Here’s something fun to do with your kids this Earth Day (April 22). Download TurfMutt’s “It’s Alive!” activity sheet and complete it with your children. It’s a particularly good activity if your area is experiencing some of the heavy rain that’s sweeping across the country!

Living landscapes contain grass, trees and other plants that help protect the planet. Just like TurfMutt and Water Warrior, they stand up against powerful bad guys that are out to harm the environment.

The activity sheet helps your kids learn the differences between living and nonliving landscapes. It’s all part of helping them become a backyard superhero like TurfMutt so they can help him stop the eco-villains.

To take the living landscape lesson a little further, we invite you to share these benefits of living landscapes with your kids. Which ones are most surprising to you and your family?

  • Research shows children’s stress levels fall within minutes of seeing green spaces.
  • Scientists have discovered that people moving to greener areas experienced an immediate improvement in their mental health, and the benefits were sustained for at least three years.
  • School children with more exposure to the outdoors performed better on cognative testing.
