Attention teachers and parents! TurfMutt has announced his Be a Backyard Superhero Contest details.
This is your opportunity to help your child enter for a chance to win a $10,000 grant for their school. The grant will be used to improve a green space in your community. New this year, the winning entry will also earn a trip for a lucky teacher to attend the National Science Teacher Association (NSTA) conference in Los Angeles.
To enter the Be a Backyard Superhero Contest, students will describe how they are “Backyard Superheroes.” They will explain how they fight alongside TurfMutt, Green Ranger, and the rest of the Outdoor Powers to combat the environmental villains (Carbon Creep, Dust Demon, Dr. Runoff, and Heat Freak). Also, they’ll illustrate how they help TurfMutt save living landscapes everywhere.
Students will draw pictures of their missions and integrate the character cutouts into their drawings. Teachers and parents will enter on behalf of their student or child by downloading the contest entry form at scholastic.com/turfmutt/contest.
The contest is open to kids in Grades K-5. Entries are due on Jan. 23, 2017.
