For pet parents, a lot goes into naming your fur-kid. It’s one of the first big decisions you make, and it has lifelong implications! Rover.com – the online site that connects pet owners and caretakers – recently came out with a list of the most popular dog names of 2016.
Did your pet’s moniker make the list? If not, you’re in good company! TurfMutt – and the superdog’s real-life name, Lucky – didn’t make the cut this time. There’s always next year!
According to the report, 28% of all dog names are human, and this number has been steadily increasing. 53% of dog owners (75% of them millennials!) name their dogs after someone in the pop culture scene. Another interesting finding? Names inspired by powerful women rose more than 13% this year.
So without further ado, here’s the list of the top 5 female and male names. Read more about the report and check out the most popular dog names by city.
