TurfMutt added another feather to his fur this weekend when he was featured in the national Sunday entertainment magazine, Parade.
The article shared details of TurfMutt’s wags to riches rescue story. TurfMutt also shared his Earth Day tips for Parade readers.
You can take on these easy-to-try, at-home practices to join TurfMutt in his mission to save the planet, one yard at a time.
- Follow the ‘Right Plant, Right Place’ Rule. Know your climate zone and add more plants that thrive in your particular region.
- Seek a good balance of region-appropriate grasses, trees and shrubs for maximum environmental benefits. Our lawns and landscapes provide a safe space for families and pets, but also capture and filter rainwater, produce oxygen, sequester carbon, dissipate the heat island effect (where urban areas are warmer than surrounding rural areas due to to human activities) and control dust and particulate matter.
- Add flowering plants to your yard to support pollinators like bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinating wildlife. Our manmade urban sanctuaries create wildlife corridors that connect us to nature and are used by wildlife, insects and migrating birds.
- Let grass go dormant in times of drought. Plants are smart! They’ll brown up and spring back when the rains come, which they inevitably will.
