April 20th

Big Rooty, Oxygenator, Professor Botany, Water Warrior, TurfMutt & Green Ranger Flying through the sky
Earth Day is on Saturday, April 22. TurfMutt and the Outdoor Powers love any excuse to celebrate the environment and the green spaces around us. TurfMutt encourages everyone to take the opportunity on Earth Day – and beyond – to do your part to help save the planet, one yard at a time.

Here are the top ways each of the Outdoor Powers helps TurfMutt. What will you do to support these environmental superheroes with your living landscapes?

Green Ranger, a miniature and masked patch of grass, is the foot soldier of the Outdoor Powers. In an instant, he waves and spreads, trapping carbon dioxide, reducing storm water runoff, and sharing oxygen. Green Ranger also uses his roots to prevent soil erosion and create larger green spaces—in backyards, public parks and more.

Big Rooty is the muscle guy of the Outdoor Powers. He uses all his might to prevent soil erosion, trapping rainwater deep in the ground with his big, strong roots. Big Rooty’s bushy top counters heat islands (built-up cities heat up like crazy as opposed to the countryside) with shade.

Water Warrior is the aquatic avenger. He might be damp and drop-size, but Water Warrior is an irrigating force, diving deep into the soil to hydrate and help plants grow.

The Oxygenator is the one-man wind farm of the Outdoor Powers. Harnessing his power for pollination, The Oxygenator brings fresh air in big gusts to plants and people everywhere.

Professor Botany is the bushy-tailed brains of the Outdoor Powers. She busies herself on the back end of missions, mapping out complicated greening plans for the Outdoor Powers. Professor Botany also teaches kids about the power of plants from the comfort of her lofty tree nest.
