bee pollinates Indian Paintbrush plant

Ten years ago, the U.S. Senate passed a measure designating a week in June as National Pollinator Week.  Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of the Interior, Pollinator Week is a chance to address the urgent issue of decreasing pollinator populations.

Now, Pollinator Week has grown into an international celebration of the valuable ecosystem services that pollinators – including bees, birds, butterflies, bats and beetles – do for us. This year, National Pollinator Week is being celebrated June 19-25.

TurfMutt knows that pollinators are an important part of our ecosystem, which starts in our own backyards. Pollinators help ensure we have food to eat and living landscapes to enjoy.

Did you know that about a third our foods and beverages are delivered by pollinators? Or that in the U.S. alone, pollinators produce nearly $20 billion of products each year?

Go here to learn how you can help protect our pollinators by focusing on your own family yard.
