A doctor in the Netherlands is warning that a blindness epidemic is inevitable unless children start spending more time outdoors. Dr. Caroline Klaver is the latest expert to raise a warning about the increased prevalence of myopia (nearsightedness) in young people. She says nearsightedness is becoming the biggest cause of blindness.

The reason so many kids are now nearsighted? Spending too much time looking at screens and not enough time outdoors in the sunlight.

Dr. Klaver says the right prescription to counteract this startling trend is for children to be outside for two hours a day. TurfMutt knows spending time outside is as easy as enjoying the family yard and the living landscapes right outside your own backdoor.

He also knows there are additional health benefits to enjoying your outdoor living room, including:

  • Being generally happier and healthier
  • Reducing ADHD symptoms
  • Gaining attention and memory benefits
