Living landscape with grass, flowers and trees

This week’s TurfMutt Tuesday contest featured a special Election Day “poll” where we asked TurfMutt fans to weigh in on their favorite aspects of the living landscape. Entrants cast their votes on Facebook and Twitter.

Turns out, TurfMutt fans love their living landscapes as much as our favorite backyard super hero does! About 90 people participated in our living landscapes poll, and results have been tabulated.

What part of the living landscape is top dog?

Flowers, grass, trees and shrubs got the most votes with nearly half of respondents telling us flowers or flowering trees/shrubs win top honors in their family yard. Vegetable gardens, wildlife and water features were also mentioned.

Living landscapes are good for us…and the environment!

Living landscapes go beyond beautiful. They help provide food and habitat for backyard animals and pollinators. (Remember, nature starts in your backyard!) Additionally, our green spaces produce oxygen, sequester carbon, prevent water runoff and help mitigate the heat island effect.

Living landscapes have also been shown to provide a number of health and well-being benefits. Living landscapes help decrease stress, improve memory and make us happier, healthier people.
