Most of our lawns and landscapes took a hit this summer- heat and drought were constant companions this Summer. One piece of advice keeps popping up from landscape experts: Aerate the lawn, if nothing else. A weekly gardening column ‘Green Thumbs Up’ suggests that ‘aerating the lawn at this time of year will produce a significant improvement in your lawn’s uptake of moisture and nutrients while providing beneficial air to root systems. This is particularly important for areas that become compacted by vehicles, heavy foot traffic, or for lawns planted over heavy soils.”
Some of us are still waiting for moisture to come back, but it’s a good time to make a plan to revive your lawn this Fall. See full story here.
