January 24 has been dubbed “Change a Pet’s Life Day.” TurfMutt and a lot of his pet pals have had their lives changed thanks to pet adoption and rescue. TurfMutt has his own remarkable rescue story (read it here). There’s the MUTT MADNESS Pet Adoption Event that TurfMutt sponsored in the fall. It resulted in many dogs finding their fur-ever homes.

And, remember Dottie? She’s the senior shelter dog that TurfMutt’s human, Kris Kiser, adopted to be TurfMutt’s sidekick. Dottie was 12 years old when she ended up at a shelter in a tough LA neighborhood and was rescued by Kris. Since she was no longer a puppy, Dottie was calmer, house-trained and already knew basic commands.

Today, Dottie is living a life of luxury – just as it should be! She has a warm bed to sleep in, plenty of toys to play with, and she loves coming into the office with TurfMutt.

On “Change a Pet’s Life Day” TurfMutt encourages you to consider ways big and small that you can have a positive impact on a pet in your community. Is pet adoption right for you? What about a donation to a local pet rescue organization or shelter? Could you help an elderly neighbor’s pet by taking it for a walk?

There are countless ways to brighten a pet’s day on Change a Pet’s Life Day and beyond. Be creative! We encourage you to share your “Change a Pet’s Life Day” on TurfMutt’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
