May 17 has been designated Outdoor Classroom Day, and TurfMutt wants to join with organizers to encourage children and their parents and teachers to get outside to learn and play!
As TurfMutt has shared, being outside is good for kids. Teaching outside can help students be more attentive to learning, and children’s stress levels fall within minutes of seeing green spaces. That makes them more able to focus on the lessons being taught! Additionally, scientists have found that children who have more exposure to the outdoors perform better on cognitive testing. The effect is greatest when both the home and school environments provided “green” time.
Give it a try! Parents can take their children outside for their homework session after school today. If you’re a teacher, you can plan an outdoor lesson for a change of pace. TurfMutt thinks this is a good idea any day of the year!
