TurfMutt’s indoor living landscape activities

As the weather turns cold and blustery across much of the United States, TurfMutt has a reminder for parents and teachers who might be dealing with stir-crazy kids. TurfMutt.com is full of entertaining, engaging and educational activities for children in grades K-5.

TurfMutt and the Outdoor Powers are on a mission to teach students and their teachers and families backyard science. And those lessons don’t end when the weather gets bad! With these online activities, kids can help TurfMutt and the Outdoor Powers by learning more about becoming a backyard superhero, even when time outdoors is limited because of weather.

Here are just a few of the activities available on TurfMutt.com. TurfMutt invites you to head on over and sniff out your favorites today!

• Digital storybooks
  TurfMutt has two online stories, The West Coast Mission and Saving the Planet, One Yard at a Time.
• Creative writing story tool
  Kids are inspired to create their own story starring TurfMutt and the Outdoor Powers. Children pick their grade to get started (K-2 or 3-5), and the rest is up to them!
• Climate Quest Game
  This fun video game has two options for the different grade levels. Kids answer questions to help TurfMutt and the Outdoor Powers move through the various climate regions throughout the U.S.

While you’re on the site, check out the Be a Backyard Superhero Contest information and entry form. Your child or student can win a $10,000 grant for their school and a trip for a teacher to attend the National Science Teacher Association (NSTA) conference in LA. Cold, indoor days are the perfect time to get the creative juices flowing on contest entries, which are due January 23!
