Fall is here, and families are spending time outside enjoying the outdoors — dining, playing, relaxing, and getting their family yards ready for spring. TurfMutt has taught us a lot about the benefits of our living landscapes – including reduced stress, improved memory and more. But a new study by researchers at the University of New Brunswick, shows living among grass, trees, shrubs and other plants – our living landscapes – may help us live longer.

Researchers found that as the amount of greenery increased about two blocks from the study subjects’ homes, their risk of premature death decreased significantly. Research has already indicated that living landscapes help people and pets be healthier and happier. But this is the first study that shows a link between green surroundings and a lower risk of premature death.
