This Sunday grab your furry, four-legged friend and wish him or her a happy National Dog Day.
It’s a holiday to remind people of the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year – just like TurfMutt was! It’s also a time to acknowledge the work that dogs do every day to save lives, serve people with disabilities, keep humans safe and bring comfort.
National Dog Day has also become an “Independence Day” of sorts for many dogs who have been adopted through rescue groups and shelters on Aug. 26 each year since the holiday was established in 2004.
We want to hear from you! Share your favorite happy “tails” and photos with us in the comments section and on our Facebook page.
