Central Park in Fall

Nature starts in your own backyard. But there are also other community green spaces that can give you, your family and your pets the boost of vitamin N(ature) your bodies and minds crave. City parks, school yards and corporate green space are a vital part of the living landscape ecosystem.

These public green spaces are especially important for the majority of Americans who live in urban areas. These folks might not have their own backyard and might not otherwise have access to green space to play and relax in (i.e. to become an “outsider”).

Research has shown that living landscapes in our neighborhoods and community areas reduce crime, counter stress, foster a sense of community, boost mood and enhance memory. (And these are just a few of the benefits – read even more here!)
