Poster Contest Closing Soon

Hurry up and make sure a teacher or student you know enters Discovery Education’s Landscapes Across America Contest by March 31st.

The contest encourages elementary students to investigate their local ecosystem for the chance to win exciting, eco-friendly prizes including a $5,000 grant for your classroom and trees planted in your honor. All your class needs to do is submit a slideshow with descriptions and digital photos to demonstrate the unique ecosystem and landscapes of your local region.

Slideshows will be judged on:

  • Inclusion of a range of plants such as turf/lawn grass, perennials, shrubs and trees
  • Thoughtful description of:
    • Green spaces benefits to the environment
    • What environmental aspects of your region need to be protected and conserved
    • How your ecosystem is unique when compared to other areas in the U.S.
  • Overall slideshow presentation

The grand prize classroom winner will receive a $5,000 grant for the teacher to implement an eco-friendly classroom program, a $500 teacher award and trees planted in honor of each member of the class.

Four second-place classroom winners will receive a $500 grant for the teacher to implement an eco-friendly classroom program and trees planted in honor of each member of the class.

Submissions must be made by a teacher of grades 3-5.

Enter now through March 31, 2011. Winners will be announced on or about April 15, 2011.
