Summer is upon us — even though the calendar says it doesn’t officially start until June 21. That means families across the country are dusting off the lawnmowers, hedge trimmers and edgers and more to spruce up their outdoor spaces.
June is also National Safety Month, so TurfMutt thought there was no better time than the present to remind consumers of some yard care safety tips.
• Keep children off riding mowers.
• Look around the area before operating equipment to ensure there are no people or pets in the yard that could get hurt by the machine or debris.
• Remove stones, sticks and other objects from the area before you start working so that debris won’t fly up and hit you or anyone else.
• Keep your equipment in peak operating condition by inspecting it for potential problems, repairing it (or taking it in for repairs), as needed, and having it inspected by an experienced servicing dealer annually.
