TurfMutt helps educators teach STEM concepts

Hey teachers! Are you looking for a fun way to engage your students in STEM education this year? TurfMutt can help your students go to the head of the class.

At TurfMutt.com, you can download a number of fun, educational activities for kids in grades K-5. Developed in partnership with Scholastic, the activity sheets include detailed teaching instructions, as well as a materials list and the recommended time for each lesson. There are also student worksheets for each activity to help further engage kids with the teachings.

For example, the Love Your Living Landscape lesson helps students in grades K-2 answer the essential question, “How do living landscapes benefit the environment where you live?” This lesson uses the downloadable worksheet “It’s Alive!” and a few other items like a magnifying glass, pencils and crayons. It takes just 45 minutes for the students to engage with the landscape around them, explore the world beneath their feet, and understand how living landscapes help benefit the community (beyond being beautiful!).
