TurfMutt in a superhero cape holding Outdoor Power character cutouts in his mouth

A friendly reminder that we are now accepting entries for TurfMutt’s Be a Backyard Superhero Contest. This is your child’s chance to win $10,000 to improve green space at his/her school, and send one lucky teacher to the National Science Teacher Association conference!

You can enter two ways – online or by mail-in application. To enter, students will describe how they are “backyard superheroes” like TurfMutt and the Outdoor Powers. The students’ stories will explain how they help fight the environmental villains Carbon Creep, Dust Demon, Dr. Runoff and Heat Freak by supporting living landscapes.

For children in grades K-2, the story should be 25-50 words long. Students in grades 3-5 will submit a little longer story, 100-150 words. The students’ “mission” will be illustrated with character cutouts and a drawing.

Even though the entries aren’t due until January 23, there’s no time like the present to get your creative juices flowing! The contest has been wildly popular in the past, and we expect even more entries this year than ever before. View previous winning entries by clicking here.

Good luck on your entry!
