TurfMutt Travels to Kentucky to Present Sweepstakes Prize

Last Friday TurfMutt traveled to Paducah, Ky., to help present the students at Morgan Elementary School a $5,000 check for winning the “Spruce Up Your School” Sweepstakes.

TurfMutt presents Morgan Elementary with sweepstakes prize money.

Morgan Elementary was chosen from a pool of more than 15,000 schools that entered the annual contest. The grant, presented by Discovery Education and Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI), will be used to renovate Morgan Elementary’s playground and to build the TurfMutt Outdoor Science Lab. The Lab will teach students the importance of green spaces in urban areas, like those surrounding Morgan Elementary.

The Lab, coupled with TurfMutt’s online curriculum for school children, will offer a hands-on learning experience that is unmatched in the regular classroom. The outdoor learning lab will be constructed over the summertime so it is ready for science, reading, writing and math lessons when the kids return to school in August.

In addition to the $5,000 grant, the students also received TurfMutt green packs packed with eco-friendly school supplies.
