June is National Pollinators Month, and the TurfMutt Foundation encourages you to take some time to plant for pollinators. Popular pollinatos include butterflies, bees, bats, and hummingbirds. These creatures depend on our yards and community green spaces for food and shelter.

Did you know?

  • 75% of the world’s flowering plants depend on pollinators to reproduce
  • About one of every three bites of food we eat exists because of pollinators
  • More than 3,500 species of native bees help increase crop yields

You can support pollinators by planting a healthy balance of grasses, garden flowers, shrubs, and trees that thrive in your yard’s conditions. That means taking into account your climate zone, soil type, sun/shade ratio, and average rainfall.
