Fall is in the air! Days are getting shorter, temperatures are dropping, and Mother Nature is slipping into a coat of many colors as leaves begin to turn all across the country.

Fall colors

You don’t have to go all the way into the wilderness like this to enjoy fall foliage – check out the colors in your own area. (Photo courtesy of Winter Park-Fraser Chamber.)

It’s already peak “peek” season in many northern and mountain states. There are many fall foliage forecast maps online that can help determine the optimal viewing time – or you can just take a look out your window!

Fall foliage provides the perfect excuse to get outdoors and explore nature with your family, but you don’t have to go all the way to the wilderness to enjoy nature’s glory! You can check out the colors in your own back yard, neighborhood and local parks. Take a fall hike with the dog, create a fall-themed scavenger hunt through your neighborhood, or make a game of raking leaves from your yard.
