November 2nd

November is National Senior Pet Month and Adopt a Senior Pet Month. Remember the inspiring senior adoption story about Mama from last year’s Lucky’s Mutt Madness adoption event?

Mama was 10 years old when she was adopted. She was one of 15 furry friends who found their forever homes at the national adoption event. Mark Potocki adopted Mama and said her age was appealing to his family that wasn’t looking for a puppy.

“Mama is doing great,” Mark reports. “She clearly is enjoying a second life and has found a new burst of energy I never would have guessed she had. Believe it or not, she even runs around at the dog park and has learned to play fetch!”

In addition to three human siblings, Mama has a fur-brother named Teddy. He’s a mini golden doodle rescue pup.

Whether you are considering bringing a new pup into your family this month or another time of year, the TurfMutt Foundation encourages you to adopt and consider a senior dog.
