In the middle of Adopt a Senior Pet Month, we wanted to share an inspiring adoption story from this year’s Lucky’s Mutt Madness. Mama (above, left) is a 10-year old Shih Tzu who was one of the 15 pups adopted by a loving family at the national adoption event.

“Everyone seemed interested in the puppies, but for us Mama’s age was more appealing,” says Mark Potocki who adopted Mama. “We weren’t looking for another puppy, and she gets a new lease on life. The stars just aligned. I didn’t go expecting to get another dog. She found me as much as I found her.”

Mama hit the family jackpot. Not only did she gain three human siblings, she also has a fur-brother, Teddy. He’s a mini golden doodle rescue pup who is two years old.

Mark adds, “The transition could not have gone any better. She has fit right in and has my wife and our three children wrapped around her paws.”

Whether you are considering bringing a furry friend into your family this month or another time of year, TurfMutt encourages you to consider an older rescue pup.
